Member of  Chinese  Academy of  Engineering Since 1997,Chairman of Science and Technology Advisory Committee of CSSRC  since 1993.

He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in1961.He was the Deputy Director of CSSRC(1984-1993). He has long been engaged in the theoretical and experimental reserach and applications of ship structural mechanics,and has made great contribution especially to the establishment of safty assessment theories, testing techniques and design rules of deep-water structures. Under his supervision,systematic testing facilities of ship structures were built up in CSSRC.He was the member of ISSC Standing Committee from 1985 to 1994,and the Chairman of  ISSC during 1988 to 1991.He is the supervisor of Ph.D. students since1986.Due to his Achievements in ship science he was elected as the member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997.
